The oil pressure sensor is placed near the distributor at the back of the engine block. Depending on the year of your automobile, it may be above the oil filter. The oil pressure switch and sensor detects if the oil pump or relief valves are jammed open, determines if there is insufficient oil, and offers inputs that define the oil's usable life.
